Terry Smith
Co-Founder & Director
Terry has more than 20 years experience in Information Management, Information Quality, Business Modelling and Business Intelligence. She has successfully led many Data Warehousing and Data Quality initiatives in the health, life and disability insurance, online information, banking and telecommunication industries. She is highly experienced in the integration of information in support of mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to establishing Intraversed in 2007, Terry was Information Management Leader under the Chief Data Officer at Telstra Corporation, the largest telecommunications company in Australia. She was responsible for establishing the corporate customer and product information strategy and providing corporate-wide guidelines for the development, use and management of customer and product data. She built and led an effective and creative team that implemented initiatives to improve and sustain information quality across Telstra.
Prior to Telstra, Terry was Principal Consultant with NCR Teradata. Here she successfully led many data warehousing and business intelligence initiatives in the banking, insurance, online information and telecommunications industries in both the US and Australia. She was responsible for assessing Clients' information needs, facilitating business information requirements sessions, developing business and logical data models, transitioning logical models to physical design, user acceptance testing and end-user education.
Prior to Teradata, Terry held a number of senior roles at Community Mutual, a US-based health insurance company. Here she was responsible for creating one of the first corporate data warehouses in 1988. The information research processes she put in place uncovered a data quality problem in a billing system, resulting in the recovery of US$1.5 million unbilled revenue. The company's growth was directly attributed to the success of this data warehouse and the company underwent multiple mergers over the next ten years to become one of America's largest health insurers, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (now know as Wellpoint Inc.). During this time she developed the strategy for integrating the many decision support environments of these merging companies, including corporate data warehouses and executive information systems.
Terry guest lectures on Information Management and Data Warehousing to undergraduate and post graduate students at the University of New South Wales. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, USA.
